Daphne Petrohilos

Daphne Petrohilos was born in London. She studied Arts in the Art Institute of Chicago. She has participated in various group shows in the States, Great Britain and Europe. In 1992 she visited Kythera to explore her family’s history and it became her permanent residence ever since. Her subject matter derives from the Kytherian life. She uses oil tempera and pencils to depict scenes of everyday life. Still lives, lemon trees, couples that fall in love, children playing in the fields. Everything moves slow making us focus on the gravity of life and the importance of being present. Melancholy and optimism co-exist and are captured in a demonstrative way recording the circle of life.
