Follow Your Art gallery presents the exhibition "Ink and Spirit – Journeys with Lafcadio Hearn", a multi-layered artistic tribute to the writer, philosopher, and visionary Lafcadio Hearn. The project highlights his profound connection with the immaterial, with memory, and with silence. The exhibition features visual works inspired by his texts, letters, and ghosts, along with three live performances combining Butoh dance, calligraphy, and soundscapes.
The work traces the echo of Hearn’s mother, Rosa Kasimati, who came from from Kythera, and engages in a dialogue with the unwritten, the permeable, and the ephemeral—elements that permeate his entire oeuvre. Through a composition of image, text, and bodily presence, the exhibition seeks to translate into a contemporary language the sensitivity and visionary gaze of a writer who journeyed the world in search of its invisible side.
"To escape Western civilization and enter Japanese life is like escaping from a pressure of ten atmospheres into a perfectly natural environment [...] The Japanese are the happiest people in the world. They are, once again, the soul of ancient Greece.”
Lafcadio Hearn
