Since its founding, follow your art has remained committed to promoting artists who are connected to the island of Kythera — whether through family heritage, permanent residence, or a deep personal connection. The gallery serves as a space where their ideas can be expressed with immediacy and creative freedom.
Kythera is home to a vibrant artistic community, comprising both graduates of art schools and self-taught artists. Many live and work on the island throughout the year, while others maintain a strong artistic connection from afar. What unites them is a shared passion for Kythera and for art.
The idea for a group exhibition bringing together diverse artistic voices began in 2012 with the annual exhibition “Big Crisis Small Art”, which was held for seven consecutive years. After a brief hiatus, the exhibition continued in 2020 under its new title, “ Kytherian Collectiva”.
The exhibition welcomes artists at all stages of their creative journey, encouraging free artistic expression without strict guidelines or thematic restrictions. The result is a vibrant, multidimensional presentation that embraces the full spectrum of contemporary artistic practice — a celebration of community, creativity, and the enduring spirit of Kythera’s cultural life.
This year’s “Collectiva Kythera” also carries a particular significance for the gallery, as it is the final exhibition to take place in this space. follow your art is bringing an important chapter of its journey to a close and preparing to establish a new home. In this sense, this year’s exhibition becomes a farewell to the space that has hosted the gallery’s artistic activity for all these years, while also marking a passage into its next chapter — a change that does not signify an ending, but rather the continuation of a relationship with the artists and Kythera that has been at the heart of follow your art since its founding.
