DIMY and Follow Your Art present the group exhibition MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY. Maps of emotions in Tsirigo, from August 10 to 17, 2025, at Mercato in Chora, Kythera.
Exploring the emotional landscapes of childhood, the exhibition invites viewers to revisit a state where play is the only language, and awe for everything surrounding them is their primary privilege. Participating artists include Giannis Efthymiou, Joanna Burtenshaw, Xenia Papadopoulou, Ifigenia Papadatou, Kleopatra Tsali, and Drosia Tseri. The opening will take place on August 11 at 20:00, with many of the participating artists in attendance. A limited number of signed works by the artists will be available in collaboration with DIMY.
DIMY and Follow Your Art offer the public an exhibition meant to be experienced, not just viewed. Through installations, the works of six artists are presented—two of whom have deep connections to Tsirigo (Kythera). With the expressive landscape of the island exuding a spirit of discovery, and Kythira itself long associated with art, literature, and cinema—as a place of love, beauty, and unfulfilled longing—the exhibition reveals facets of each artist’s personal utopia. The remote island is not only the physical site of the exhibition but also a symbol of the multiple hideouts that arise from the boundless imagination of childhood.
Through interactive installations, works chosen for their spontaneous themes and aesthetics, and three-dimensional deconstructed compositions, MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY. invites the public to become part of the work, contributing to the creation of their own emotional maps. Each installation is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the freedom and wonder we once felt as children. With the six artists’ work forming a shared playground of imagination, childhood play becomes a collaborative act—not only between artists or between artists and viewers, but also between the memories we carry and the stories yet to be told.
The exhibition MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY., along with its participating artists, DIMY, and Follow Your Art, remind visitors that there is no wrong way to create, feel, collaborate, or play.
