Georgia Tseri

Georgia Tseri was born in Athens in 1967 and has lived permanently on the island of Kythera since 1997. She studied at the School of Graphic and Artistic Studies of the Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Athens, specializing in painting on fabric.

From 1987 to 1997, she organized and taught painting workshops for children, as well as batik and stained-glass workshops for adults at the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Haidari. The children's workshops participated in national and international competitions and festivals and maintained an ongoing collaboration with the Museum of Cycladic Art.

After settling in Kythera, she worked for the Municipality and the Municipal Library as Head of Cultural and Educational Programmes, designing and implementing projects that connected art with education and the local community.

In 2000, she received an award at the Design Frankfurt exhibition for a series of artistic lighting sculptures she created. In 2008, she founded follow your art gallery in Kapsali, Kythera, an independent exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art. Through the gallery, she has curated and organized dozens of solo and group exhibitions by Greek and international artists in Kythera and Crete. She also co-founded the follow your art Shop in collaboration with Drosia Tseri.

In recent years, she has developed an active cultural practice by organizing international collaborations, artistic exchanges, and participatory art projects. She is also a founding member of PASIPHAI AMKE, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering dialogue between art, community, and the natural environment.

Since 2010, she has studied Japanese calligraphy under Saisho Shimada and has trained in Butoh dance with Masaki Iwana, Moeno Wakamatsu, Yumino Seki, Ioanna Garagkouni, and Ifigeneia Vogiatzaki. Her engagement with Japanese calligraphy, Qi Gong, and Eastern body practices has profoundly influenced her contemporary painting.

She has presented her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In 2026, she participated in the international Scent+Art Festival in Riga, Latvia, presenting works that explored the relationship between image, scent, and memory, placing visual art within a multisensory experience.

Her work is characterized by the use of ink, wax, and natural materials on fabric and handmade paper. In recent years, her painting has evolved toward a more restrained visual language, deeply influenced by the philosophy of Japanese calligraphy, where line, empty space, and gesture assume a central role.

Her artistic practice moves fluidly between painting, installation, light, movement, and the senses, exploring the relationship between humanity, nature, memory, and time. Through her work, she seeks to create spaces of silence, contemplation, and meaningful experience, inviting the viewer to participate actively rather than merely observe.
